Well , in todays world there are 8 things which have a huge influence on human life

1. Kalam - Time
2. Svabhavam - Nature
3. Samsakaram - Heritage and Culture
4. Kamam - Desire
5. Karmam - Actions
6. Gunam
1. Satvika Gunam
2. Rajasika Gunam
3. Tamasika Gunam

All the above 8 things exercise a huge influence over human life, that a human's life can change drastically if one of these moves out of control.

The Lord, Sriman Narayana, is above all these and is in control of these. This is elaborated in the Srimad Bhagawatam

kala-svabhava-samskara-

kama-karma-gunadibhih

sva-mahi-dhvasta-mahibhir

murtimadbhir upasitah

Though this is enunciated in the Bhagawatam, this has been shown personally by the Lord in his only manushyavataram, the Ramavataram
